Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Chairman of UAE-based Modon, visited Baku White City during his visit to Baku, together with Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev.
The guests received detailed information about the project’s history, the extensive transformation of the territory from the environmental devastation of Black City into the sustainable urban environment of White City, as well as the infrastructure works carried out and the buildings constructed.
It was noted that the project, developed by leading international architectural firms in collaboration with local specialists as an advanced, modern and environmentally sustainable urban planning initiative, had received various awards at numerous international exhibitions, including Cityscape Global Dubai, MIPIM Asia Hong Kong and MIPIM Cannes.
During their tour of Baku White City, the guests visited Baku White City Office Building 2020, which housed the COP29 headquarters. Green building requirements were incorporated from the early design stages, and the building was certified under the international BREEAM environmental assessment standard.
Following the tour, the guests expressed their appreciation for the work carried out, highlighting the architectural diversity of the completed buildings, the landscaping, the artworks on display, the choice of materials, the quality of workmanship and the high standard of maintenance.
The Baku White City project is being implemented within the framework of the “Comprehensive Action Plan for Improving the Environmental Situation in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2006–2010,” approved by an Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
