A ceremony marking the 101st anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the swearing-in of newly recruited customs officers was held in Baku White City.
The event began with the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of the country.
Following the screening of videos depicting the National Leader’s life and work, as well as his recommendations to the customs authorities, 106 new recruits took the customs oath and marched ceremonially past the reviewing stand to the sounds of a military march.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee and Lieutenant General of the Customs Service, noted that the swearing-in of customs officers is traditionally held on a significant date — the birthday of the Great Leader.
It was noted that the customs authorities were reorganised and established through the Great Leader’s farsighted policies and extensive experience in public administration, which laid the foundation for the country’s sustainable economic development strategy.
Speakers emphasised that Azerbaijan, having fully restored its territorial integrity under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, a faithful successor to the National Leader’s ideas, is developing rapidly, and that the customs authorities will continue to contribute to the country’s progress.
Other speakers highlighted National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s invaluable contributions to the people of Azerbaijan and affirmed that his cherished memory would live on.
The event concluded with a special performance dedicated to Azerbaijan’s tricolour flag, presented by students of the State Customs Committee Academy.
